My name is Ramona Draghici, and I have made it my life’s work to rescue and rehabilitate stray dogs from the streets and public shelters of Romania.
In these shelters, dogs face a cruel fate – if they are not adopted within two weeks, they may be euthanized. I couldn’t just stand by and watch. That’s why I fight for them.
The situation is heartbreaking. Thousands of stray dogs struggle every day to survive, suffering from:
- Hunger and malnutrition
- Injuries, disease, and untreated medical conditions
- Neglect and abandonment
Public shelters are overcrowded, leading to harsh conditions and high euthanasia rates.
Against this challenging backdrop, I have devoted my life to making a difference – one dog at a time.
Since 2018, I have rescued and rehomed over 4,000 dogs, providing them with the care and love they deserve.
I work tirelessly to:
- Provide medical treatment, rehabilitation, and socialization
- Prepare dogs for adoption into loving families
- Partner with international organizations in Germany, Austria, Sweden, Finland and the UK to find the best homes
Every dog deserves a second chance – and I will do everything in my power to give it to them.
To provide even better care for rescued animals, I am currently working on building a new shelter. This will be a safe haven where more dogs can heal and prepare for their forever homes. Transforming Despair into Hope
In Romania, stray dogs are a common and heartbreaking sight, roaming the streets in search of basic needs like food, shelter and safety. Life on the streets is unforgiving, with many dogs suffering from injuries, diseases and malnutrition. The lack of medical care and protection leaves them vulnerable to harsh weather, accidents and abuse. Tragically, even tiny puppies, often separated from their mothers, are left to fend for themselves, facing almost impossible odds for survival.
Our mission is to change this reality. Every rescue is a step toward giving these dogs a second chance at life. We begin by providing urgent medical care to address injuries, illnesses or neglect. Each dog is given proper nutrition, a safe place to rest and the love and compassion they’ve never known.
Our work doesn’t stop at rescue; we focus on helping these animals heal, both physically and emotionally, so they can learn to trust again. With every stray dog we save, we transform a life of despair into one of hope, ensuring these animals experience the safety, care and happiness they truly deserve.

Saving Lives from the Brink
In Romania, public shelters are often overcrowded and under-resourced, creating a devastating reality for the dogs who end up there. By law, stray dogs in these shelters can be euthanized after just 14 days if they are not adopted. This short window of time leaves many dogs with little hope, as adoption rates in Romania remain low, and the shelters lack the resources to provide proper care.
The conditions in kill shelters are often harsh, with limited food, cramped spaces and little to no medical attention, adding to the suffering of these vulnerable animals.
Our mission is to give these dogs a second chance before it’s too late. Each rescue begins with removing them from the kill shelter and providing immediate medical treatment to address their physical and emotional wounds. They are brought to a safe space where they receive proper nutrition, rehabilitation and a chance to rebuild their trust in people.
Every dog saved is not just given another day of life, they are given a future filled with hope and the possibility of finding a loving forever home.

A Path to Love and a New Life
Finding loving homes for rescued dogs is at the core of everything we do. While some dogs remain at our shelter, many need the extra care and individual attention that only a foster home can provide.
Fostering is an essential part of a dog’s journey toward adoption, giving them a chance to adjust to a home environment, learn routines and build trust with humans. This temporary step can be life-changing, helping even the most frightened or unsure dogs gain confidence and prepare for their forever families.
Our ultimate goal is to find permanent, loving homes for these dogs, both locally and internationally. Through partnerships with international organizations, we have successfully rehomed dogs in Germany, Austria, Sweden, the UK and beyond.

We believe that every dog deserves not only a second chance but a life filled with safety, respect and love. Founded by Ramona, the shelter was born out of a deep commitment to rescuing the most vulnerable dogs from Romania’s public kill shelters and streets.
Here, we offer every dog we rescue the care and kindness they have been denied by providing shelter, nourishing food and vital medical treatment to help them heal both physically and emotionally.
For many of our dogs, the journey doesn’t end with rescue. Our dedicated team works to find them loving homes across Europe, matching them with families who will cherish and protect them.
But we also know that some dogs, due to age, health challenges or past traumas, need more than a temporary stop on their way to a new home. For these special souls, Ramona is committed to creating a permanent sanctuary – a safe and nurturing place where they can live out their lives in peace and dignity, free from the fear and uncertainty they once faced.
